Generation Euro Competition
European School wins first and second place
Third year running, our students were competing in the finals. This year we were even more prepared and dedicated in our efforts and we were rewarded accordingly. Winning both first place and second place as an acknowledgement of our student skills beyond the current curriculum and presenting coherently at a high level.
70 teams took part in the first round of the competition, an online quiz with 30 questions about the Eurosystem and its monetary policy. Of these 70 teams, 23 were selected for the second round, in which they had to make a monetary policy decision and explain in writing the reasoning behind that decision.
The final on Thursday 2 May-2024 brought together the top three teams from the second round, which had to present a new monetary policy decision and answer questions from the BCL jury, central bank economists.
Several of the students prepare themselves for this competition during the two senior years of secondary school years, in S6 & S7. Working individually and as a group outside of school hours to attain the required higher skillset. Many active hours of work and coaching as a student and teacher.
Studying and applying theory and data in classroom discussions and written assignments to sharpen their skills. These students do very well at the written Economic Baccalaureate and University admissions are impressed by the level of economic aptitude.
European School equally impressed and proud of our students‘ collective effort to succeed.
