Library Secondary

The library welcomes students for reading, studying and researches. It gives pupils the opportunity to read and work in a peaceful and quiet atmosphere or to choose books for loan.

 

Library’s collection

With a collection of about 28,000 catalogue records, the secondary library offers a large selection of novels, documentaries, comics and magazines.

These resources are available in different languages : Bulgarian, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Irish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Luxemburgish, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish. There are also several reference books which help to learn Italian and Latin.

Previous Bac papers can be consulted in the library.

 

Online catalogue

The online catalogue can be consulted through the National Library’s Web site: https://a-z.lu

It gives access to the entire documentation of the 87 Luxembourgish libraries including resources available in the secondary school’s Library.

 

Borrowing books

Pupils can borrow up to 3 books for 3 weeks.

The librarian can give an extension at any time if needed.

It’s the responsibility of the users to return the items in good condition and in due time. Lost or damaged items must be replaced.

 

Activities organised by the Library

The library helps to promote reading and to develop critical thinking skills by organising events and activities designed in collaboration with the teachers.

Introduction sessions are offered to First years students in order to explain them how to use the library.

 

Opening hours and facilities

The library is open to all members of the school community every day from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

The library provides two working areas : one dedicated for Junior students from 1st to 3rd years, another one for Senior students from 4th to 7th years.

Comfortable sofas can be found in the Library offering a cosy reading area.

A Computer Room is available within the Library. Students are allowed to use this ICT area for educational purposes only.

A copy card can be purchased in the library where pupils and teachers may use a copy machine.

 

Library rules

To maintain a quiet, working and peaceful atmosphere :

  • All users must behave in an appropriate manner and maintain silence
  • Pupils must leave their bags on the shelves at the entrance and put their student card on the Librarian’s desk
  • All users must respect the library’s equipment and keep the tables and shelves tidy and clean
  • Food and drinks are not allowed in the Library
  • Playing games is forbidden in the Library
  • All users must respect instructions given by the librarian
