Secondary : Calculators and computers
Starting from S5, all students must bring their own laptop or tablet to school as part of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. This requirement supports the development of digital key competence, a fundamental skill for lifelong learning, enabling students to access school materials, complete assignments more efficiently, collaborate on projects, and develop essential digital skills for their future studies and careers.
Devices must meet minimum technical requirements to connect to the school’s secure network. Charging lockers are available, but students should bring devices fully charged each day.
S4 Calculator
A scientific calculator with, at least, the “sin”, “cos” and “tan” trigonometric functions.
S5/S6/S7 calculator for Mathematics and Physics
For B-tests, examinations and classwork: A graphic scientific calculator.
Required functionalities:
- Trigonometric functions
- Exponential & logarithm
- Numerical equation(s) solving
- 1-Var & 2-Var Statistics
- Factorials & combinations
- Binomial distribution
- Normal distribution
- Functions: Table of values
- Numeric integration
- Numerical differentiation
- Graphing
Forbidden functionality:
- Computer Algebra System
Team of math and science teachers recommend Numworks calculator purchase.
For classwork only: Use of various apps in accordance with the syllabus (programming, spreadsheets, dynamic geometry, data processing, etc.). No specific device should be purchased by the families for this purpose. A device provided by the school (specific room, trolleys, or general equipment), a personal device within the framework of a BYOD project, or a personal smartphone may be used, the same would be applicable for years s1 to s4. These devices may also by decision of the school be used during assessments which contribute to the A marks.
S5/S6/S7 calculator for the other scientific subjects - Biology, Economics, Geography and Chemistry
For B-tests, examinations, and classwork: A non-graphing and non-programmable scientific calculator.
