NATURE BOY
Musical play
With the sun heating the town for weeks, the only place for a cool breeze is the forest up the hill. That is where the friends go to pass a summer day, and that is where a tree spirit falls in love with a human girl. Inexplicably, it feels like they have known each other forever, even if they have just met. But the town needs more housing and is planning to tear down the forest. What can they do? Observing the course of events are two mushrooms, who have fungi cousins everywhere. Literally, everywhere. If only the smaller mushroom learned to root himself properly to hear all the messages…
Nature Boy is a musical play in two acts. It is a story about love, but also the forest, trees and fungi. It tells about the connection of all living creatures and the different time view for nature and for humans. The music in the play consists of known popular songs linking the story together, all deriving from the title song, Nature Boy, by Nat Kind Cole. The play is written by Suvi-Kirsi Korhonen, who has coordinated the production of the play with a team of a dozen teachers and hundred students of the European School Luxembourg I.
