Introduction to Programming & Robotics

Introduction to Programming & Robotics – P3, P4 & P5

The Introduction to Programming & Robotics project gives P3, P4 and P5 pupils the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of coding, computational thinking and robotics through practical, hands-on activities. Using age-appropriate resources and collaborative challenges, pupils learn to create, test and improve solutions while developing logical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Choir

European Hours Choir – P5

Coordinator: Mrs Marina Morere 

The European Hours Choir was established in 2022 to offer motivated P5 pupils the opportunity to discover the joy of singing together through a varied repertoire of European songs centred on themes such as friendship, respect, kindness and togetherness. Through music, pupils deepen their understanding of European values, learn to collaborate, and develop a shared sense of European identity. 

Since its creation, the choir has become an important and valued part of our school community and has earned recognition beyond the school through invitations to participate in several official events. Its first major performance was at the opening ceremony of the FAMES Festival in 2023, where pupils performed Imagine by John Lennon. Following this successful event, the European Commission has continued to invite the choir to perform each year at the official Europe Day ceremony, reflecting the trust and appreciation placed in this initiative. The choir also contributes annually to the ASF Christmas Market, helping to create a joyful atmosphere at this important community fundraising event. 

Selected pupils take part in weekly 1.5-hour sessions during European Hours under the supervision of Ms Morere, supported by Mr Besseling, an experienced pianist and singing instructor employed by APEEEL1 in Lux II. 

Beyond its official performances, the choir contributes in many ways to school life and strengthens links across different parts of the school. Over the past years, pupils have: 

  • Performed the European Anthem in English, French and German during the opening ceremony of the school’s 70th anniversary celebrations in October 2023. 
  • Taken part in the annual P5 ceremony each July. 
  • Presented Christmas, Spring and Summer concerts for the school community, often inviting all Primary classes to sing together. 
  • Collaborated with Maternelle classes during Europe Week through performances celebrating friendship, kindness and European values. 
  • Joined Secondary students in multilingual performances of the European Anthem through cooperation with the Secondary music teachers (each year) 

 

The choir has gradually become more than a musical activity: it is a project that brings together pupils, teachers, parents and different parts of the school around shared values and memorable experiences. 

This is made possible through the ongoing coordination of the project, including the selection and organisation of pupils, the choice of repertoire reflecting European values and languages, cooperation with school and external partners, communication with families, and the organisation of concerts and school wide singing events throughout the year. 

The European Hours Choir continues to offer pupils meaningful artistic experiences, strengthen the sense of belonging within our school community, and proudly represent our school at important events both within and beyond our campus.
