But they invite you and the person you have a conflict with to a discussion, which they help to facilitate. If a neutral person is present, it becomes easier to get the two of you talk about your problem and seek a solution.

The Peer Mediators don’t work with groups: they have been trained to help only two people who have a conflict.

If more people are involved, for example, in a class conflict, the KiVA Team will help.

What Do We Do?

Naturally we do mediations. But we, as mediators, also make sure that everyone knows we’re here and what we do. Next to that, we help create a positive atmosphere by spreading positive messages, e.g. during Valentine’s Day.

Our Aim

Our aim is to improve the school atmosphere and make the secondary school a better place for everyone.

Requirements for Peer-Mediation

To make the peer-mediation a success, both sides have to agree on the following conditions:

They have to participate voluntarily – peer-mediation can’t be done if one of them is forced to do it.

They have to be interested in finding a solution. There has to be a will to find the way!

They have to accept the mediators

They have to be willing to participate and follow the rules of the mediation

Problems?

If you need a mediation or just have more questions, please contact our coach: Mrs Marianne De Grave by e-mail: degravma@teacher.eursc.eu

Would You Like to Join Us?

If you’d like to help us organise an activity, don’t hesitate to contact Mrs De Grave by e-mail: degravma@teacher.eursc.eu

When you’re in S4 or S5, you could also become a Peer Mediator.
