What is “Peer Mediation”?<\/h3>\n

Peer-Mediation is a project that was initiated by the Luxemburg \u00a0SNJ (Service National de la Jeunesse) and is running successfully in most Luxemburg schools.<\/p>\n

We, from the European School, are very proud of being part of this programme, which we have done for many years now.<\/p>\n

Peer Mediation is a process that encourages students to solve their conflicts, by talking to each other and finding a solution themselves<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Several students from all language sections have been thoroughly trained to help other students solve a conflict.<\/p>\n

The idea is that, if you have a conflict with another student and would like this to be solved, you can turn to our team and ask for help.<\/p>\n

Our Mediators don\u2019t solve your problem: you have to do that yourself ! But they invite you and the person you have a conflict with to a discussion, which they help to facilitate. If a neutral person is present, it becomes easier to get the two of you talk about your problem and seek a solution.<\/p>\n

The Peer Mediators don\u2019t work with groups: they have been trained to help only two people who have a conflict.<\/p>\n

If more people are involved, for example, in a class conflict, the KiVA Team will help.<\/p>\n

What Do We Do?<\/h3>\n

Naturally we do mediations. But we, as mediators, also make sure that everyone knows we\u2019re here and what we do. Next to that, we help create a positive atmosphere by spreading positive messages, e.g. during Valentine\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

Our aim is to improve the school atmosphere and make the secondary school a better place for everyone.<\/p>\n

Requirements for Peer-Mediation<\/h3>\n

To make the peer-mediation a success, both sides have to agree on the following conditions:<\/p>\n
